The complaints we fix most here: leaking.
Oven failures in Silver Lake span both electric and gas models. Electric ovens: bake or broil element burnout (visible breaks or blistering), temperature sensor drift causing oven to run 30–50°F hot or cold, control-board relay failures, F1/F2/F3 error codes, door lock stuck engaged after self-clean cycle. Gas ovens: weak or failing glow-bar igniter (the #1 cause of a gas oven not heating—it draws insufficient current to open the safety valve), spark module or electrode faults, safety valve itself, uneven baking from burner clog or warped flame spreader. Both: door hinges sagging or springs broken, door gasket torn or compressed (heat loss, extended preheat), oven calibration off by 25°F+ (fixable via offset adjustment). A&Y carries igniters, elements, sensors, and small control boards on the truck for same-day completion.
Self-clean caution: the 800–900°F self-clean cycle is the #1 killer of thermal fuses, door lock motors, and marginal igniters—we see the aftermath weekly. If your oven is over 8 years old, avoid self-clean or budget for a service call afterward.
Steam and combi-steam ovens (Miele, Thermador, Wolf steam models): LADWP delivers 230–310 mg/L (13–18 GPG) hardness to Silver Lake—scale forms rapidly in the steam generator and on the boiler element, causing slow steam, temperature errors, or complete lockout. A&Y descales in-house and replaces fouled elements, pumps, and sensors. Softened or distilled water extends service intervals.
